Bernardine (Bernie) Theresa Penrose of Broomfield, CO passed away at the age of 91 on July 19, 2025. She was born to Martha and Ladis Stefanski in Denver, CO on May 24, 1934. She was one of seven children and graduated from Annunciation High School in Denver in 1952.

Bernardine is survived by her children Kenneth Penrose (Angie) of Broomfield, David Penrose of Broomfield, Steven Penrose of Granby, CO, Patty Penrose (Marc Levise) of Whitewood, SD and numerous grandchildren.

She worked as a paraprofessional at Kohl Elementary School in Broomfield for over 30 years. This was both good and bad for her kids as she was always waiting for them when they got out of the principal's office. They could never lie about how much trouble they got in at school because she was always one step ahead of them.

Bernardine was a resident of Broomfield for 65 years and a member of Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church in Broomfield since 1960. She was one of the first women to be elected into the Elks Lodge in the state of Colorado and was inducted as a lifetime member of the Denver Elks Lodge #17. She served as the Chaplain for the lodge and was honored as the Charity Queen. She was always active in lodge events and was beloved by all at the lodge.

She loved polka dancing, bowling, playing bingo, and heading up the mountain to play a few slot machines. To say that she was a lifelong fan of the Denver Broncos would be an understatement. She loved the Bronco's and could not get enough blue and orange to wear throughout the year. At 90 she could still tell you about any player on the team and argue with you if you ever questioned their ability to win the Super Bowl.

Services for Bernardine will be held Friday, July 25, 2025 at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 900 West Midway Blvd, Broomfield CO. The Rosary will begin at 10:30am with Mass starting at 11:00am. A reception will take place at the church following Mass. She will be laid to rest at Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery, Wheat Ridge, CO at a later date.
