Andrew “Andy” Lee Gaither, Beloved Husband, Father, and Family Member, Passes Away Suddenly at 67
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Andy Lee Gaither, who departed from us at the age of 67. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
Born on June 22, 1956, in California, Andy spent his early years surrounded by the love of his family. When his mother, Maureen, passed away when he was five, his grandmother lovingly stepped in to help care for him and his siblings. Later, his father married his stepmother, Norma, and the family moved to Idaho.
In his young adult years in Idaho, he became a well-known drummer in a local band, Passage, which solidified him as a true Rock Star. He lit up the stage with his electrifying performances, captivating audiences with his raw talent. Whether he was pounding out rhythms behind the drum kit or listening to live music off stage, his passion for music was his life. He carried his love of music with him through his life while living in Hawaii and, later, Colorado.
Offstage, Andy was known for his unwavering dedication to his family. He was a loving husband to his devoted wife Martha, a caring father to his beloved son Thomas Gaither. His sudden departure has left a void in our lives that can never be filled.
Andy was a master of humor, with a wit as sharp as his drumsticks, but also known equally for his kindness towards all he loved. Always ready with a joke or a witty quip, he brought laughter to every occasion. His cynical yet hilarious outlook on life endeared him to all who knew him, and his playful banter will be sorely missed by those who had the pleasure of sharing his company.
Andy is survived by his loving wife Martha (née Eddy), who truly brought out the best in Andy and was a loving force in his life from the time they met until his last breath, and his devoted son Thomas, and a host of relatives including his father Thomas Gaither, siblings Michael Gaither, Susan (Martin) Goffin, Jean (Jeffrey) Bishop, and Karen (Loren) Schwarzhoff, and friends who will forever treasure the time they shared with him. He is preceded in death by his mother Maureen Gaither (née Chesner), stepmother Norma Gaither (née Talmage), and brother Jeffrey Gaither.
A celebration of his life will be announced at a later time, where friends and family will come together to honor his memory.
Though Andy may no longer walk beside us, his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in peace, knowing that he was deeply loved and will be eternally missed, both as a beloved family member and as a legendary rocker whose music will continue to inspire us for years to come.
