GEORGE ELI VASU, JR.
6/26/1947-8/10/2019 (72 years old)
George Vasu, 72 of Thornton, CO passed peacefully on August 10, 2019 with his family near by.
He was preceded in death by his parents George and Mary Vasu of Detroit, Mi.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Patricia, their sons Kevin, Nickolas and wife Aprille, and Joshua and wife Lauren as well as grandchildren, Bailey, Xander, Miya, Maxton and Brooklyn. He is also survived by his sister Helen Collins of St. Louis, Mo. As well as 3 nieces.
George was born on June 26, 1947 in Detroit, Mi to Mary Zack Vasu and George Eli Vasu Sr. He attended St. Francis de Sales Catholic School from kindergarten through High School.
In 1965 he joined the US Airforce at the age of 17. He was sent to McDill airforce base in Tampa, Florida for his basic training. He was then deployed to South Vietnam where he was stationed at Da Nang, South Vietnam during the Vietnam War. From Vietnam he was sent to Peterson Air Force base in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was discharged from the Air Force while in Colorado Springs. He attended Pikes Peak Community College where he studied business.
He met his wife Patricia in Colorado Springs and their 3 boys were born there. While in Colorado Springs, George had his own specialty advertising business. He belonged to the association for this business and received many awards for excellent work. An interest of his was Democratic politics in Colorado Springs. George was elected President of the Club for the Democrats and provided leadership for the Club for several years.
In 1989, George and Pat decided to move to Denver, Colorado where they had relatives living. He took a job selling advertising for Catholic church bulletins. His next position was with the US Census Bureau which helped him to gain employment with the Internal Revenue Service. George worked for and retired from the IRS after 25+ years.
George loved antiques and collectibles. He and Pat spent many hours looking for antiques. Many trips were taken around Colorado in search of collectibles. He had a booth in an antique mall that he maintained in retirement.

On Monday, August 19th, a viewing will begin at 6:00 p.m. with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Northglenn, Colorado.
George’s Funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Northglenn, Colorado at 11:00 am on Tuesday August 20, 2019. He will be buried with honors at Ft. Logan Cemetery at 1:15. A reception will follow the Graveside Ceremony at Northgate Event Center 3880 South Lowell Boulevard, Denver CO 80236 for those who wish to attend.
