Gary Solis Obituary

Gary was born in Denver on December 27, 1953.  He died at home on March 10, 2019.  He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Paula, and his four beloved sons, Paul, Peter, George and John, daughter-in-law Julie, as well as his father John, sisters Diana and Colleen, aunt and uncle Rachel and Julian Valles, aunt and uncle Irene and Bob Nation, cousins Barbara Cashmore and Rick Valles, brothers Steve, Jim and Mike Schoenecker, grandchildren Sydney and Max, numerous nieces and nephews, and more friends than anyone can count!

As a child, Gary attended Blessed Sacrament grade school and Machebeuf High School. He then went on to Colorado State University, where he met his wife Paula and graduated with a degree in history. He worked at Zellerbach Paper Company and Dixon Paper Company before venturing out on his own in 1984 and founding Greenbar Corporation, a computer and networking company. He was a ski instructor for the blind with the National Sports Center for the Disabled for 20 years, and for a few years served on their Board of Trustees. Many years ago Gary also served on the Board of Directors for the YMCA of the Rockies.  Gary was an avid fly fisherman and river-rafter his entire adult life, and most recently became a pretty darn good woodworker as well!

A celebration of Gary’s life will be held at 3:30 p.m. on April 27, 2019 at the Shrine of St. Anne Catholic School in Arvada. The family kindly asks that attendees do not wear black.
