Elizabeth “Lynnanne” S. Adkins

Elizabeth Adkins, known to friends as "Lynanne," passed away on October 29, 2018, at the age of 80 years.l

A native of Columbus, OH, Elizabeth attended the Columbus School for Girls and graduated from the Ohio State University. She briefly worked in local television before relocating. 

In 1962 she married Dr. William “Bill” Adkins and began a life that briefly involved relocation to Chicago, IL, Rochester, MN before settling in Erie, PA where she earned her Masters Degree in Psychology from Gannon University. She used this degree to embark on a career of drug and alcohol counseling.

Retirement brought them to spending time geographically with her children, initially buying a farm in Middleburg, VA near daughter Rebecca and grandchildren.. Years later, she moved to Tampa, Florida, enjoying life near her youngest son, Tom. Most recently she relocated to Boulder, Colorado to be near her eldest son, Bill.

She is survived by her children, Bill (49), Rebecca (47) and Thomas (45), as well as her brother Ned (Edwin) and his wife Marilyn. Additionally, she is survived by 5 grandchildren, Max (23), Caleb (20), Madison (19), Lauren (17), Nick (15)

A Celebration of Elizabeth’s life is scheduled for Saturday, January 19, 2019. There will be a 1:30pm gravesite ceremony at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church Cemetery at 105 E. Washington St., Middleburg, VA 20117. Following the ceremony there will be a life celebration for Elizabeth at 50 West Vineyards, 39060 John Mosby Highway, Middleburg, VA 20117 from 3pm - 6pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Elizabeth’s name made to the following nonprofits would be appreciated: Sunrise Good Samaritan Fund, McLean, VA or Edgehill Recovery Retreat, Winchester, VA.
