Dr. David A. Kieffer

Dr. David A. Kieffer, 63, of Broomfield, Colorado, with courage and resolve, went home to God on March 17, 2018. He was continuously surrounded by his family and loved ones; he has never been alone. 

Born in Dearborn, Michigan, to parents Bob and Iris Kieffer, David attended parochial school throughout high school. He attended Hope College in Holland, Michigan, where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. He then attended Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, where he received his Master ’s degree in Psychology and an additional degree in Psychological Services. In 1996, he completed his Doctor of Psychology at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado. 

His childhood was difficult as he lost his dad at the tender age of 8. Without the love and guidance of his mother, his Godparents; Dr. George and Beverly Kieffer, and his Poppa (his German grandfather), David’s educational path and true potential may have never been realized.

In 1987, he met the love of his life, Kim Gallagher. They married on the 14th of February in 1988 and just celebrated their 30th anniversary together. 

He maintained a successful office practice in Broomfield, Colorado, where he provided psychological services as well as custody evaluations, court-ordered forensic service to upwards of ten thousand clients.

David is preceded in death by his parents and numerous other extended family members. 

David is survived by his wife Kim, their children Jessica (Daniel) Guzman, Cameron (Alesia) Kieffer, Cole Kieffer and girlfriend Alana, and Sean (AnneMarie) Kieffer.  His first grandbaby, Sofia “The Dancer” Alexandra Kieffer, arrived last November; just in time to spend precious time with her Poppa.   

David considered himself extremely fortunate to have been able to enjoy history with his “mom and dad” (Kim’s Parents) Joe and Inez Gallagher, and his beloved Godparents, Bev and George. He is also survived by Kim’s siblings, who he considered as his own; Becky, Joe Jr., Laura, Judith, Erin, Lisa, Vickie, Maury, Jon, and Jennifer and their families. He is survived by his Goddaughters, Mallory, Elizabeth, Dahlen, and Theresa. He also leaves behind his favorite cousins; Mark, Keith, Lynn, his sister Sue, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, friends and colleagues who loved and respected him dearly, and his black lab, Sims. 

David enjoyed a very active lifestyle and took in everything his beautiful Colorado had to offer. He loved hiking, skiing, and even once built a bicycle out of bamboo. He brewed beer, made amazing soups, but most of all adored time spent with his family. David was kind. David was generous. David was joyful. 

A Rosary will begin at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 23, 2018 at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 900 W Midway Blvd. in Broomfield. Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 followed by a reception. Please visit www.inmemoriamservices.com for more information.
