Betty Jean Atchison Kolt, (86, born December 8, 1931) died peacefully of natural causes, on April 13, 2018 in Boulder, CO surrounded by family, love and light. Betty embraced life with passion and perfection, love and friendship. Raising five beautiful children, all born within six years of each other, she was a master at multi-tasking and making motherhood look fun and easy. She enthusiastically threw herself into everything she did: teaching herself to sew to make elaborate tap dance outfits; leader of Camp Fire Girls troop and Boy Scout den mother; cooking gourmet meals as a respected corporate wife and hostess; planning many school and church fund raisers and galas; running golf tournaments as President of the Arizona Women's Golf Association.
Betty is cherished in this life by Kathi Kolt-Fry, Betsy Kolt-Pausch (Jochen), Don Kolt (Tori) and Bob Kolt (Lou Anne); 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, her sister, Carol Atchison Steffes and her brother, Jim Atchison and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She is now joyfully reuniting in heaven with her son, Dick Kolt; her granddaughter, Kelly Kolt; her beloved companion, Lew Senn; her parents, Jim and Jean Atchison and her twin sister, Barbara Atchison-Zahyna.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, she graduated from St. Mary's Academy. She raised her family in Southern California, El Paso and Phoenix, before settling in Oro Valley for 43 years, where she had many friends and became an avid golfer. She was a long time member of Santa Catalina Catholic Church, a volunteer at University Hospital and Northwest Medical Center, and member of the Oro Valley Country Club.
Memorial Services will be held in May in Tucson and Los Angeles.
