Anthony "Tony" Willcox Obituary

Anthony “Tony” W. Willcox, 79, of Broomfield, Colorado, died at his home on May 24th with his wife by his side. Tony was born in Lowell, Massachusetts on January 23rd, 1940 to Ruth and Frederick Willcox. Everyone who knew him loved him. He entertained with a dry, subtle sense of humor that always captured his audience.  He deeply loved Jac, his Border Collie, and Grace, his Russian Blue kitty. 

Tony was an avid lover of nature, animals, history, and the outdoors. Some of his favorite activities were skiing at Mad River Glenn in Vermont and Climbing   Mt. Washington in New Hampshire. He had a passion for hiking, running, participating in marathons and exercising at the gym. Tony was an active member at Family in Christ Community Church. 

Tony grew up on Lake Winnipesaukee, New Hampshire, where many locals escaped to seek haven from the heat of the summer. He lived in Concord, Massachusetts where he attended The Fenn School. He graduated from Burdette College Boston, MA. Attended Northeastern University School of Engineering Boston, MA, along with various courses for specialty training.in the construction industry. 

In his early life, Tony was a champion tennis player and aspiring baseball player that had the opportunity to try out for his favorite baseball team, the Boston Red Sox.   He was a member of the Christian Science Society and did a neighborhood weekly newspaper. He was a member of the Porsche club and raced cars, motorcycles, and raced utility outboards. He also served in the Navy. 

Tony was also a superintendent and project manager for multiple construction undertakings including projects for water treatment plants, Government buildings and Denver International Airport. He held a Class A Superintendent’s Building License

Tony is survived by the love of his life of more than 44 years, Kathleen Coonan (whom he nick-name “Sam”). In addition to his wife he is survived by his step-daughter, Sandra Latino; his brother-in-law’s Jim (Ann) Coonan, Dan (Kathy) Coonan in MA., numerous nieces and nephews in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Colorado and many dear friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2019, at 11:00 am, at Family In Christ Community Church located at 11355 Sheridan Blvd. Westminster CO 80020. A reception will follow.
